I created a replication of a teletubby with a cool colored background scheme. I decided to add some fun colorful circles in the background to add more to the image.
This class has finally come to an end. I have dedicated several hours of time to work on these assignments throughout the semester, and some of them like the coding was very confusing and took a lot of time. The caligram is one of my favorite projects I did and I probably spent over 10 hours on it. I have learned a lot from this class and am glad to have learned how to use several of these applications and learn different techniques.
Emily- I love the images you chose to represent your zine. I think they are unique and the color you chose for it matches up perfectly and gives me a happy feeling when I look at it. I also think you incorporated the Gestalt principles very well into each image. It is hard to say because I have not seen your final project yet, but I think something that might benefit you would be adding something else to the images of the flowers. Also outlining the words in every image not just one of them. Lastly just making sure you stay consistent in filling in the images with crayon because I know it can be difficult sometimes. Brianna- I love your sketches for the project. I think they are very detailed in show your artistic talent for drawing. I also love the color you used for the anchor and octopus image. I think you will like the outcome of your zine. Something to keep in mind when finishing your zine would be not to make every image super complicated because it may be hard to determine...
Jim Campbell, is a contemporary San Fransisco based artist that is known for his LED light works. Campbell started in film making then moved to electronic sculpture, and is currently working with film, sound, and LED light installations. Campbell uses light in a unique way. He tends to choose a darker background then use bright colored lights on what appears to be the top of his work. I chose to research Campbell because when I saw his art the light speckles really grabbed my attention. I haven't seen any work like this before and it is definitely a change from what we have learned about in class so far and the artists we have looked at. Below is an attachment to a video that describes how he creates his work and hows us images of the pieces. https://www.sfmoma.org/artist/Jim_Campbell/ Robert Gober, another artist I chose to research creates sculptures that explore sexuality, nature, relationships, politics, and religion. Gober focusses his work on memories from his childhood...
