Mid-Project 3 Critique

Emily- I love the images you chose to represent your zine. I think they are unique and the color you chose for it matches up perfectly and gives me a happy feeling when I look at it. I also think you incorporated the Gestalt principles very well into each image. It is hard to say because I have not seen your final project yet, but I think something that might benefit you would be adding something else to the images of the flowers. Also outlining the words in every image not just one of them. Lastly just making sure you stay consistent in filling in the images with crayon because I know it can be difficult sometimes. Brianna- I love your sketches for the project. I think they are very detailed in show your artistic talent for drawing. I also love the color you used for the anchor and octopus image. I think you will like the outcome of your zine. Something to keep in mind when finishing your zine would be not to make every image super complicated because it may be hard to determine...

Project 3: Zines

Image
I chose to make my zine about summer and the activities I enjoy doing in the summertime. I chose to use markers for this project because I was limited to supplies and I thought they would stand out the most and they are fun materials in my opinion to draw with. I chose to use a monochromatic color scheme with the color red and a shade of red being pink. I thought the red would stand out the most and bring a warm, happy feeling to my zine being that it revolves around the idea of summer. The most difficult part of the project for me was probably deciding how I wanted to create my cover and back page. I thought of doing something that brought the two pages together so drew out letters spelling summer that took up half of the first page and half of the last page that pulled the zine together and created a sense of unity. If I could change one thing it would be spicing up the letters to my "summer". I think I did the best on coming up with unique pictures fro each page of the z...

04/13/20 Project 3 Update

I am currently almost finished with the project. I have had a lot of fun choosing my zine topic of summer and just creating different zines of things that make me happy during summertime. I am using monochromatic and I chose to use the color red and I am using pink as a shade of red. I am using a red and pink marker along with a black pen to create my images. So far so good! :)

I am going to use a summer theme for the zines project. Below are three simple sketched out ideas to get me started on my project. I'm looking forward to making a zone! :)

Zines

Image
After doing some research I was able to better understand what zines are because to be quite honest I have never heard of them before doing my research. Zines are usually a small circulation of self-designed work. For example, zines are a sort of collage of various images, texts, and messages. Zines can be personal or shaped around world problems such as hunger. Below are three zines that I find interesting. I like the first one because I think the nature theme fits my interests and the background choices worked well. I think the colors used in the second zine really stand out and show a "dance battle" in the best possible way and give a bright mood happy vibes image. Lastly, I thought the third zine was cute and fun. I like how it makes you feel upbeat and chose bright colors and used lines to create a texture.
